The bad experience has nothing to do with the service staff, it has to do with the waiting time to receive your food and the items that are not in the menu anymore. The experience has been getting a little bit worse every time I go. I had a great experience the first time I went. The staff seemed kind enough though, so I can't say that it was all together a terrible experience. I'm sure there's a segment of the population that will find this place enjoyable, but I cannot in good conscience recommend this to anybody I know. These kinds of skewers are supposed to be grilled, however there was no texture or char marks to indicate that the meat had been cooked that way. One has to wonder how many days ago those onions were prepared. A sweet American style teriyaki sauce was drizzled all over it and the water logged pieces of green onion it rested on. The "yakitori" consisted of small, flaccid pieces of chicken with no flavor of their own. The flavor was all muddled up, and it was a bit of a chore to eat (I say "eat", but I mean consume for the sake of sustenance, not pleasure). The rice in the "oyakudonburi" was undercooked and crunchy, in the entirety of it was covered in a spicy mayo that made it oily and unpleasant. As a matter of fact, when I walked in, I couldn't even hear the host come up behind me and ask if I'd like to be seated. While the visual aesthetic of the restaurant was interesting, and the staff attentive, it was hard to hear them say anything over the loud pounding music. It goes to show that you can name a dish anything you want, and it barely requires a passing semblance to it. The food appears to be what the menu calls it in name only. Summary: apparently all the money has been invested in making the place look pretty, with little left over to actually make the food taste good. STRIKE 3! Tonight was a horrible experience and we will never eat there again. When it was brought up to the same Manger (JERMEY) he said nothing. Once he was confronted about it he acted like he didn’t do it. My Aunt asked one of the servers that was walking by for something and before she could even ask he smacked his hands together and threw them in the air. There was a huge hole leading to outside! We were so disgusted (pictures in review).

After we ate another cook opened the door beside our table to store his equipment. The cook was great and the best part of the night. There wasn’t enough eggs, rice, chicken, or vegetables on the cart. They ran out of noodles and our whole table had order noodles. When he came out his cart was under prepped. Once our drinks finally got there the cook took an additional 20 mins to come so we had been there for a total of 2 hours before getting served. Our drinks also took an a while to come out. The appetizers were great especially the dynamite shrimp. As we checked in he told us that we were supposed to be there 15 minutes prior to our reservation and he had to wait a literal hour to be seated! STRIKE 1! Then once we sat down and ordered appetizers they took 40 mins to come out. Tonight was finally the last straw, the Manger Jermey was very rude and had a spicy attitude. I don’t even know where to begin, my family and I have been eating at Genji’s for years and over the last few months the service has taken a turn for the worst. We had a 6pm reservation and showed up at 545.

After explaining to 2 servers how to split them, we all ended up paying for others people's items just to be able to leave because we didn't want to wait another 15 minutes to leave. It was the longest 3 hour dinner of my life. Our server finally showed up and took about 15 minutes to come back with checks for us. We finally flagged down a server (not ours) and she attempted to split our checks. We sat for almost 20 minutes with no one bringing our checks. When the cook was done, he left and said our server would be over soon. My sisters Crab Rangoons never showed up untill an hour later after she reminded 2 different servers. Most of our drinks sat empty and at one point a member of our table returned to the waiting area bar to get drinks refilled. We were 1 fork short for the table so my son and I shared a fork the entire time even after asking multiple servers for a fork. We were already almost done eating when our cook noticed and hunted them down for us. Somehow at our table they forgot to give us the 3 section sauce cups. However the service from the wait staff fell very short.

Our cook Brandon was extremely personable, very funny, engaging and was great with keeping everyone involved and laughing. Let me start by saying my kids and I LOVED the grill experience.
